How can I pay Modelo 210 from abroad without a Spanish bank account?

Short answer

Use the transfer-from-abroad option. When the return is prepared, the tax office issues a payment ID and its bank details; you send a transfer in euros from your own bank, with only that ID as the reference, within 30 days. No Spanish account or digital identity is needed.

How the transfer route works

Paying from outside Spain used to be a headache. Today the Agencia Tributaria offers a procedure designed for it, usually called pago desde el extranjero.

  1. The Modelo 210 is completed, and "transfer from abroad" is chosen as the payment method, with the start of the IBAN that will pay.
  2. The system returns a payment ID and the tax office's own account details.
  3. You print and sign the document.
  4. You order a transfer from your bank, in euros, for the exact amount.

The money goes straight from your account to the tax office. Nobody in between holds it.

Four rules that prevent a bounced payment

  • The reference field contains the ID and nothing else. Adding your name or NIE is the most common reason transfers come back.
  • The ID expires after 30 calendar days. Pay well inside that window.
  • The full amount must arrive in euros. From a sterling account, send the payment in euros and choose to pay all bank charges yourself, so nothing is deducted on the way.
  • One ID, one transfer. Spouses with two returns make two separate payments.

From the UK, from Ireland, from elsewhere

From Ireland or any euro country, this is an ordinary SEPA transfer, usually quick and free. From the UK, it is an international payment: allow several working days and check the fee option. From the US or Switzerland, the principle is the same, but use a provider that guarantees the exact euro amount on arrival.

What counts is the date the funds reach the tax office. A transfer sent on 30 December for a 31 December deadline may arrive late and trigger a small surcharge.

If something goes wrong

If the transfer is returned, the tax is still unpaid. A new payment document has to be generated for the same return and the payment sent again. Late, the 1% voluntary surcharge may apply.

The payment guide covers every option in detail, including SEPA direct debit for owners with a digital identity. If you have no certificate or Cl@ve, see filing without a digital certificate. Fiscasa supplies the ID and the transfer instructions with each return; the pricing page shows what that costs.
